The workshop, to be led by Starr Barbaro of the N.C. Governor’s Crime Commission, will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 29, in the Hospitality Room of the Ramsey Regional Activity Center on the WCU campus.
“In the wake of the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech last year and at Northern Illinois earlier this year, ensuring the safety of students, faculty and staff has become of critical importance to the leaders of schools and colleges,” said Tom Johnson, chief of police at Western. “This workshop will provide training on how to conduct threat level assessments, and how to develop and apply strategies to properly identify campus vulnerability.”
The workshop is free of charge, but advance registration is requested. For registration information, call the WCU Police Department at (828) 227-3200.
