The presentations, open to the public free of charge, will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Room 223 of the Fine and Performing Arts Center. The schedule:
June 14 – Caitlin Perkins, a graduate of the Philadelphia-based University of the Arts. Perkins has conducted workshops, lectures and exhibitions in printmaking and has showed in Italy, San Francisco and Philadelphia.
June 27 – Jason Pierson, a rising visual artist with a master of fine arts in theater. Pierson also is an assistant business counselor in Western’s Small Business and Technology Development Center.
June 29 – Ro Lohin, a New York City gallery owner and graduate of Parsons School of Art and Design in New York.
July 9 – Avantika Bawa, a visual artist and curator from Atlanta. Bawa’s work has been displayed at galleries and museums throughout the United States, India, Canada, France and England.
July 17 – Bob Trotman, figurative sculptor and Winston-Salem native. Trotman received a visual artist fellowship from the N.C. Arts Council and has taught at the Penland School of Crafts in Western North Carolina.
July 25 – Luke Allsbrook, a painter who completed his master’s degree at the New York Academy of Art. His work currently shows in Augusta, N.Y., and Waynesville.
In addition to the presentations, Western’s School of Art and Design will host a conference Friday, July 13, from 9 a.m. until noon in Room 130 of the Fine and Performing Arts Center. Guest speakers include Robyn Moore, assistant professor of art at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.; Jolene Powell, assistant professor of art at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio; Holly Garriott, director of Emerge Gallery in Greenville; Drew Deane, owner of Drew Deane Gallery in Brevard; and Timothy Charles Jacobs, free-lance artist of Webster and former director of Western’s A.K. Hinds University Center. The speakers will present case studies, share career experiences and discuss their involvement in the the Master of Fine Arts Program. A reception will follow the event.
