
The recipient of the national 2006 Distinguished Program in Teacher Education award and the national 2007 Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Teacher Education.
The College of Education and Allied Professions prepares educators, counselors, psychologists, recreation personnel and other human service specialists at both entry and advanced levels.
The council meets annually to develop ideas and strategies that assists Western in ensuring that all children of our state have a competent, qualified, and caring teacher. Council membership has representation from Western Carolina University, regional PK-12 schools, and the community colleges. The council is chaired by the Dean of the College of Education and Allied Professions, Dr. Michael Dougherty.
