WCU to offer online learning workshop Sept. 16
9/4/2008 - Western Carolina University will offer “Using Outcome-Based Performance in Online Learning” as a part of the Digital Sharing Workshop Series, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Room 143 of the Cordelia Camp Building.
The session will be led by Jeanne Dorle, director of graduate-level project management programs and director of the global management and strategy department in WCU’s College of Business.
Dorle’s presentation will showcase effective assessment techniques in online learning and will describe how to complement indirect measures of student learning with direct measures of that learning.
Topics covered will include the development of direct measures of student learning at the program level, the procedures used for data collection and evaluation and the process used for updating the curriculum based on the results.
Dorle is a certified as a project management professional and an organizational project management maturity model assessor and consultant by the Project Management Institute.
The PMI is an accrediting organization that requires accredited programs, including WCU’s project management programs, to be high quality and innovative.
“This is a great workshop for instructors who teach online or anyone interested in teaching online,” said Susan Fouts, director of continuing education at WCU.
